This past Tuesday October, 11th, 2016 Overwatch put out its Halloween update. The event is titled Halloween Terror. It runs from October 11th to November 1st and includes a number of new things.
First and most obvious is the new brawl Junkensteins Revenge. This brawl has Soldier, Hanzo, Ana, and McCree pit against the AI known as zomboids. This is the first time Overwatch has introduced a PvE element to Overwatch. This brawl is a horde mode, that at certain time intervals makes the heroes fight against bosses which are other heroes in Overwatch. The bosses consist on Reaper, Roadhog, Junkrat, and Mercy. Players must work together to thwart Junkensteins siege of the castle in this three lane fight. After the match, players are rewarded with experience just like every other mode in Overwatch
Alongside the new brawl, this update provides 12 new skins for some heroes, along with new victory poses, emotes, and player icons. This event is pretty similar to the Summer Games event back in August when compared in size. The big difference in Halloween Terror is that players can finally use in game gold to by the items the desire. However the prices on these items are three times the normal amount because of their high demand. Players currently seem very receptive to this idea, and I believe it will work well for Blizzard going forward. .
Of course players can buy these spooky new loot boxes for real money just like regular loot boxes. This allows for players to hunt for that one skin or emote they most desire, which is where blizzard has the potential to make a large chunk of money.
IF you haven’t checked in on Overwatch recently you should pop on by and join this spooky party before its gone on November 1st!
